Run 4 Kids

This morning, for the second year in a row, the 3 of us ran the "Run 4 Kids," a 5K that helps fund the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, a local Christian-based foster group home. Our good friend, Nick Tidwell, is on the board and actually chaired the event this year. Cooper made his competitive debut in the 100 yd dash. He started out slow, repeating "No, no, no" while his Papa tried to hold his hand and run. When he saw the "bubbas" coming out of the bubble machine, he got majorly excited and picked up the pace. I think he came in next to last, but for an event with kids as old as four, I'd say he has nothing to be ashamed of. And, he got a blue ribbon, 'cause in the 100 yd dash, there are no losers! ; ) I clocked my best ever competive time, coming in 4th in my age group, which was cool. (The time in the picture is about 30-40 seconds off because we were stuck in a traffic jam at the beginning of the course, and chip time started at the gun as opposed to at the starting mat. I think 26:30-:40 is closer to accurate.) We saw lots of friends from church and Jeremy's friend from his old firm, Chad. And Nick ran the event like a true champ! We had a blast, and of course, we'll do it again next year! What a great way to kickoff our anniversary weekend.
