Big Boy Bed

Given our company situation this weekend, our sleeping arrangements were a little different than usual. Cooper had to take his naps in Mommy and Papa's big bed so that Baby Charlotte could nap in his bed. Coop did so well that we decided that he was ready for us to convert his crib into a big boy toddler bed. Experts (and moms more experienced than me) say you should leave your toddler in a crib until you need to put them in another bed by necessity, e.g., (a) they climb out and it becomes dangerous, or (b) you have another baby and need the crib. Option (b) is a no-go for us, and although Cooper can climb out of his crib, for whatever reason, he never does unless we are in the room. Despite that, we felt like the time was right and that we should lose the crib. We put him to bed a little early tonight since he was tired from all of the weekend festivities, and he fell asleep like a champ. And he's only fallen out once so far. (It's only 8:45 p.m. though, so we'll see how the rest of the night goes.)

an experienced mommy told me that if you put some phone books/thick books just under the mattress on the outside, it raises the mattress up just enough that they won't fall off. Obviously we haven't gotten to try this yet, but she said it worked for her 4 kids.
